Compressor Installation Operation Manual

Due to its tiny size, open crosshead, and gas packing design, Hycomp oil free air boosters (compressors that take their inlet from an air source at a raised pressure) and gas compressors are unique in the industry. The open crosshead allows any oil vapours that may escape from the crankcase to be released to atmosphere, preventing them from becoming entrained in the compressed gas stream. Hycomp's novel use of the incoming gas stream to help cool gas packings results in improved performance and service life.

These compressors take incoming gas that is already at a high pressure and "boost" it to an even higher pressure. Because these compressors do not draw from the atmosphere, careful attention must be paid to the inlet gas conditions and cleanliness.
