The date on the E-title Book's page is that of the most recent edition of the whole book (month and year). The dates displayed on the left-hand side of the footer on each chapter page (also as month and year) show the chapter's publishing date. The publication date of a chapter is important for the references to standards and regulations that are cited as of that date.

Each chapter is a self-contained unit, similar to a folder on a computer. This means that the publisher can change, edit, or add to each chapter independently of the others. It is equally simple to add additional chapters. Illustrations such as graphics, photographs, and tables are typically placed beside the related textual material.
